|When severe cuts are made,
there reaches a point that people will just stop listening.
It's imperative that RCI continue it's own programming, not just relays of domestic broadcasts, as occured in the past. Derek Fraser, Canadian ambassador to Ukraine stressed the importance of maintaining a viable Ukrainian language service. That service has already been cut from two to one hour daily. Do you know that it once broadcast also to the large Ukrainian diaspora in the former Soviet Far East and Kazakhstan? When severe cuts are made, there reaches a point that people will just stop listening. What's the point? It will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Illogical and ill-advised cuts.
from Sheldon Harvey, President, Canadian International DX Club:
We’ve been to this dance, already, too many times in the past; the Canadian public having to stand up and voice support for Canada’s international radio voice, Radio Canada International, now, once again being threatened by illogical and ill-advised cuts.....
